Cast a Vision for Your Home in 2020

Homemaking is not just a job I settled for. It is my chosen vocation, my avocation, and my calling. I consider it worthy of the same effort I would put into any other profession.

That’s why I try and employ every method and tool available to promote the well being of my home. Vision Casting is one of these tools.

“Just what is vision casting?” you may ask.

It is something businesses and ministries use to create a clear picture of what they would like to see happen in the next quarter, half-year, or year.

Recently I got very serious about the future of my family. I spent my regular time meditating in the Word of God and prayer, but with some fasting and asking Him what He would like for me to pray for, what He believes is important for our family in the near future.

He not only gave me some definite goals, but also an outline of how to make my prayers more effective. Here is a short outline of what He communicated to me:

  1. Write down specific goals. Make sure they are in accordance with the Word, that you have specific scriptures to stand on. This is to make sure you are praying in the will of God and also to keep the devil at bay as he tries to attack your faith and bring confusion into your mind.
  2. Pray with your whole heart. If you spend any time reading the Word (especially the examples given us in the Old Testament) you will see over and over again that God answers the cries of His servants. This is not descriptive of our usual mumbled mentions as we run through our daily lists. No, this is a plaintive, desperate requesting before the Throne. God doesn’t answer half-hearted prayers.
  3. Use hope. What is hope? It is what we find in Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

NKJV

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

KJV

HOPE = EXPECTED END

When you have an “expected end” you have a vision in your mind of what you expect. If you were to say, “We are going to take a Disney vacation,” you would have a picture of your family happy while walking through Disney World enjoying the sights and sounds together. You would be seeing your children oohing and aahing at all of the sights and sounds and experiences before they happened.

We can do this in prayer. We can take those things we pray for and see them coming into our reality.

This is faith:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

We can do this with confidence because of this promise:

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1 John 5:14

I must testify that this type of praying is already reaping amazing results. One of the most important prayer requests on my list is being answered, and all without any tangible “help” on my part; it’s all God! Praise His name forever!

But wait, there’s more! In case you need a little more information and encouragement, be sure and watch this video I made on Youtube:

  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together and for being a mentor and encourager. I have benefited from the things you have shared for about 10 years now I think. I’ve been earnestly praying for God’s help in bringing more order and simplicity to our lives, home and homeschool as I parent our 7 children while my husband frequently travels. I want to move forward in this new year with more vision and hope!

    • You are so very welcome, Tracy. God is so happy when we step out and trust Him and believe that He is a good God with good plans for us. I would not have been able to handle our 15 children without His hope!
