Build a Home for Homeschooling

It doesn’t matter what kind of fan-tabulous curriculum we use, if there is no home, homeschooling is pointless. Sadly, we’ve been trained to be good workers, good citizens, and good consumers, but being good “domestic engineers” has not been on our career lists for a long time.

So, just how are we supposed to go about building a dwelling that feels as good as it’s supposed to look?

This is the question I found myself with when I started out. I was so clueless! Thankfully, I belonged to a church where I was surrounded by women who were well on the road and gave me a hand up.

I not only talked with these women, but I also walked with them, and one way we all grew together was by attending a course titled “Eve Reborn.”

The other day I ran across the syllabus we used for the Eve Reborn seminar and thought:

“Why can’t I teach this seminar to my online audience?”

When I mentioned it briefly in one of my videos, I received a fair amount of positive feedback, so I know the interest is there. I felt really badly because it’s just impossible to find the material or anything else, mostly because for the past five decades it has not been politically-correct to teach women to concentrate on being home-builders.

While it was useless for me to recommend a book that is non-existent, I felt it was selfish for me to keep such life-transformative information to myself.

This means I went ahead and started a new video series on the subject, and as I produce these I will try and share them here.

This is the first video in the series:

I am planning to use two other books as well, so it should be helpful and fruitful for all of us!

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. I think this is a much needed study. I do have a request though. If the book is no longer in print could you share a digital copy of it? I really prefer to read rather than watch videos. Thanks for your having a heart to teach the younger women. We need more “older women” like you!

    • I understand your preferences and I would love to accommodate you, as I love reading as well. However, the material is clearly copy-written, so I don’t believe I can digitalize it legally–so sorry!

  4. I am very excited for this series! I have been fighting these “isms” since I became saved almost 12 years ago and it has been a battle! I can’t wait to hear more!

  5. I am so excited about this! I have been so blessed by your homeschool information over the years. I am always looking for ways to improve my own skills as well as things I can recommend to my younger sisters at church. Thank you!

  6. I think Eve Reborn would be a huge blessing to homeschooling mamas of all ages and stages. I have been homeschooling for 23 years and have 2 of my six still at home. I know I would *love* a refresher and encouragement!

  7. I’m excited to go through the series. I sometimes feel that in todays culture learning how to be an “eve reborn” is an uphill battle! I need all the help I can get and I’m already in my 40’s! I sometimes feel like my generation was kinda left high and dry to rely on our own resources and whatever the public school taught or promoted. I grew up going to church but all biblical teaching/how to be a woman/ etc was left to the schools and once a week Sunday morning.
I’d love to make some leaps in learning to catch up on what I missed!

    • That’s exactly how I have felt numerous times! Going through this series again is also a great refresher for Yours Truly.

  9. I think this is wonderful. It really hits home with me. For myself as well as the daughters and daughters in law that look to me as a christian matriarch. I’m currently listening to the book Eve in Exile. It may be similar. I’m excited for this course! It may be that my bible study for Wives can incorporate this!

  10. Thank you for this series Sherry and for all you do to encourage Biblical homemaking. I am amazed at how much feminism has creeped into my thinking. I have to fight it constantly, especially in training up my teenage daughter. So hard to go against the culture – but so worth it. Thank you. Wondering if you know of any blogs that promote homemaking that would appeal to our daughters. “Homemaker Prep” I guess. I feel like our daughters need support. Something for young ladies wanting to prepare for marriage and motherhood, rather than college and career.

    • I really can relate to that! The brainwashing has been relentless over the last 50 years that our country has been under siege. I know there are at least two podcasts that I can think of readily–the one is called “Homemaker’s Club.” It’s late here, but I will try and remember to include a sort of list in my next post/video.

  11. Thank you so much for doing this. You are such a blessing and an anchor in a sea of chaos! There is so much misinformation directed toward all of us Eves today! I love how you stand up and speak the truth. I feel your support and encouragement through the words that you write and speak. Prayers for you and your family.

  12. Hi, Sherry!!!

I’m not sure how I missed the start of this series. . . BUT I’m here for it now!! Thank you for continuing to share Biblical womanhood faithfully with us. It is such a blessing. I found the Fascinating Girl/Womanhood books on Kindle and they will be added to the reading list for myself and my daughters. I really wish I could find the seminar material you have on Eve Reborn; but you reading it to us is priceless! God bless you dear friend.

    • Thank you, Dear Lady! I think you’ll really like the Fascinating books, I am reading them with the girls at home and we are all getting so much out of them! I wish I could find the Eve Reborn materials, as the focus is more spiritual, but I really like the Fascinating books are more practical.

    • Unfortunately, the Eve Reborn seminar has been out of print for many years. The “Secrets of Fascinating Womanhood” book is for free as a pdf, and there is a Fascinating Womanhood book out that you can buy as well. I believe I left the links to these resources in the description (right below the video).
