  1. Sherry! I am so glad you can blog again too! I was wondering what in the world had happened; I was devastated that my favorite blog in the whole world was suddenly gone. Thank you, thank you for coming back! You have made such a mark on my mothering and life through this blog. I’m SO happy you are back!!!!!

  2. Sherry, I agree with Kristi! You are my favourite blogger and over the last few weeks I have been fervently checking and praying every few days that Large Family Mothering would be back online.

You have had such a huge influence in my life. After I had my fifth baby 20 months ago I started reading large family blogs for tips on how to survive, and discovered your website. I loved your articles on how to be patient with really little ones and sent my two sisters (with a baby and toddler each) links to your posts. Initially I ignored all the homeschooling stuff, as my three children were in school, but when my son started Year 7 and I became disillusioned with his public high school (we are in Australia), I decided to give it a try with two of my children. Nine months later and I have four students at home and a very active toddler! We absolutely love it, and I think it is SO practical with a large family. Naturally I started to voraciously read all of your homeschooling articles, especially those about shortcuts for tired moms! I also bought your book and the entire Eclectic Education series from Dollar Homeschool, on your recommendation. The whole family absolutely loves the McGuffey readers. I have printed out some of your posts too, however I really miss some of the ones you had on creating an affordable curriculum, and all the interesting links you included. Is the entire content of your website lost, or will you be reposting some of your articles? (Obviously time is a huge factor, and I am in awe of the fact that you can write so regularly with eight or nine children at home). If it is all lost, then I am truly sorry.

I also wanted to say that as a church-going Christian, I never used to read the Bible regularly, but reading your work and having all those wonderful quotes from scripture inspired me to look them up and find out more, and my life has completely changed. Thank you so much. You are truly a light that shines!

Just one more thing… unless you lose something you often don’t truly value it. When your website was down, I truly missed having such a wonderful resource and was quite mournful of the fact that I couldn’t go to a bookshop and just “buy a copy” off the shelf. For this reason, I urge you to put back your “donate now” button so that we can help you with the amazing work you do.

    God bless you!

    • Dear Ksana,

I am typing this through the blur of tear-filled eyes. What you have written has blessed me tremendously! It inspires me to continue on, even though now I am facing a lot of hard work to get things back in order.

I do have the text of most of my old posts and information, but they must be manually uploaded separately, meaning that it will take work and time to get the information back. My goal is to try and get something up daily, but I also must keep my home and my family as a priority, so, as always, I trust that God will help me as He is in it.

I appreciate that you and Kristi have given me some ideas as to what to tackle first. I hope you will be patient with me as I strive to put more posts up that I hope will help and inspire. I will also take your advice and put the donate button up as soon as I can.

You are a blessing to me today!

I have copies of my old content, but just not in a format that makes them easy to upload into my new blog. I will need to take each article and manually reformat it and upload it, which will mean time–something that I have to believe God for!

But I am not deterred, I am hopeful–I sense that this is going to work for good for everyone. This is what He has promised, and what I am standing on!

I know it was the Holy Spirit who inspired you to write to me, because it came at a time when I really needed encouragement.

      Thank you!

P.S. I am going to follow-through with your suggestion to put up a donation box, and my dear daughter also suggested that it might be a good idea just to put the most important posts into a book while simultaneously uploading them, so that people really could “buy a copy,” what do you think?

      • Dear Sherry,

It’s been wonderful to read your work again!

I wrote my message with blurry vision, too. It was something I’d been meaning to say for a while but never got around to.

Of course you should compile a book with your most important posts! I can’t believe it didn’t occur to me when I writing. But it was very late, and I don’t tend to have many “brain waves” at the hour!

May God help you with your work!

    • Thank you, Katelin, for your kind words! I will try and have more about McGuffey up soon–working on a video series that will enable me to explain better and even cast a bit of vision.
