Homebuilding: Give Your Child a Drink of Water

When life gets hectic it’s easy to see children as nuisances and forget that our words and actions can affect them negatively. Too often we treat them as if they are less than nothing, responding to their simple requests with frustration and anger that we would never show to other adults.

This is where Jesus helps us to put aside our own resentments and irritations and see them as blessings. When we take on the attitude of Christ, we can use the small instances of life to show them love and kindness.

Like a drink of water, our words can replenish and rejuvenate them, instead of leaving them with feelings of rejection and hurt.

  1. To start off THANK YOU for your blog, it has been such an inspiration to me. I am a mother of 10, soon to be 11, ages 2-17. And have followed for a couple years. My children were with me when I was watching this post about “giving your children a drink of water”. About a week later there was a situation between my children that pointed to the need to be kinder to others and my 8 year old son said, “It’s like giveing them a drink of water.” His application was spot on. Thank you for your always God honoring advise!
